A meeting of the Town Council of Huntertown, Indiana was held on Monday, April 18, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Attendees: Pat Freck, Gary Grant, Mike Stamets, Dave Garman, Brandon Seifert, and Clerk Treasurer Cathy Mittendorf. Also present: Attorney David Hawk, Utility Foreman, Gabe Brindle, and Derek Frederickson from Engineering Resources. There were 12 guests and 1 reporter.

Pat Freck called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

COUNCIL ACTIONS

Dave Garman made a motion to approve April 4, 2016 minutes, Gary Grant seconded. All in favor.

Brandon Seifert made a motion to approve General claims in the amount of $12,403,379.24, Gary Grant seconded. All in favor.

Mike Stamets made a motion to accept the Traffic Signal Agreement between Huntertown, Indiana and City of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Brandon Seifert seconded. All in favor.

NEW BUSINESS

The Dickes Family: Darryl, Duane, and Debbie presented Huntertown with a 5 x 8 Bicentennial Flag of Indiana. As of right now, this is 1 of 2 flags printed in this size. The flag will be flown for around a month and on special occasions. There are plans on having the flag encased and placed in the Town Hall with a plaque thanking the Dickes family for their donation.

Pat Freck would like to remind everyone that there will be a closed meeting, open to the public, on the Land Use Ordinance on April 27 at 5:00 p.m. at the Town Hall. The public may review the ordinance and make comments.

The City of Fort Wayne presented Huntertown with the City Traffic Maintenance Agreement. A second quote received had higher rates. Council is ready to sign agreement with Fort Wayne.

OLD BUSINESS

There is an update on the concerns of motorists turning east of State Road 3 onto Cedar Canyon Road. INDOT acknowledges that traffic has increased since their last study, but not enough to justify constructing a right turn lane of the State Road 3. New black backgrounds will be added to the lights in the near future. Flashing yellow lights will also be added to the north and south bound lanes.

COMMENTS/REPORTS

Clerk Treasurer reported that she has received a check in the amount of $24,281.25 for the damaged Huntertown sign on State Road 3. There is an additional $8793.75 allowed for depreciation and deductible upon completion of repairs/replacement. Council would like to remove the sign and replace it with a smaller sign. Gabe Brindle will check into getting some quotes

Gabe Brindle reported they are cleaning up for the sale of the white dump truck and getting ready for the bid process. Sealed bids will be accepted at the Town Hall for 2 weeks.

API is still working on getting us quotes for street repair. There are also quotes from Brooks and E & B Paving expected.

Derek Frederickson announced there will a ground breaking ceremony for the WWTP on Wednesday, April 20 at 5:30.

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Betty Lavachek, 2127 Myers Drive
   The Town has an ordinance on Garbage cans. These cans should not be left out by the street, homeowners can also be fined. She would like to have a reminder put with the utility bills.

Dave Garman, 1928 Mill Stream Drive
   Dave announced he will be resigning his position with the Town Council as of April 18, 2016. He will be moving out of the Huntertown jurisdiction.

Dave Garman made a motion to adjourn, Gary Grant seconded. All in favor.
