A meeting of the Town Council of Huntertown, Indiana was held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Attendees: Pat Freck, Gary Grant, Mike Stamets, Brandon Seifert, and Clerk Treasurer Cathy Mittendorf. Also present: Attorney David Hawk, Superintendent Don Papai, Derek Frederickson from Engineering Resources, and Resource Officer Brandon Reichert. There were 5 guests and 1 reporter.

Pat Freck called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

COUNCIL ACTIONS

Gary Grant made a motion to approve April 18, 2016 meeting minutes, Mike Stamets seconded. All in favor.

Gary Grant made a motion to approve General Claims in the amount of $49,289.28, Brandon Seifert seconded. All in favor.

Brandon Seifert made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 16-011, Gary Grant seconded. This Resolution is Amending Huntertown Resolution No. 16-001 Regarding Connection Fees for Old Lima Road Sanitary Sewer Extension.

NEW BUSINESS

Aza Tazian, Classic Heights Extended South

Aza presented Council with a primary plat for Classic Heights Extended. This is a 13 lot plat for single family homes connecting to Monte Caro Drive. They are in the process for applying for a primary plat. The public hearing is May 12.

Pat Freck spoke to the Council about replacing our computer service company. There have been numerous issues with current service. Rosemary Scheele, Utility Office Manager, would like to go with Niccum Tech. Council have given approval for Rosemary to proceed.

COMMENTS/REPORTS

   At last Council meeting, a resident was concerned about property owners leaving their trash cans by the road after they were emptied. A reminder was sent in Mays utility billing to remove their cans from the road. Brandon Reichert is going to contact this resident.

Pat Freck would like to commend Houser Auto on their new look on their remodeled shop front. It may be the inspiration other businesses to follow.

Gary Grant would like Council to approve getting a new American flag. This will complement our new flag presented from the Dickes family. Council agreed.

Cathy Mittendorf has heard complaints about the new traffic signal at Lima Road and Cedar Canyon. The left turn stays red for an extremely long time. Gary Grant has contacted the County Highway on this. Brandon Reichert will also investigate if we do not have a yellow blinking turn light by Tuesday, May 3.

Don Papai would like to get quotes on repairs of area streets. In order for all to be on the same page, we will need a scope of project developed, so that everyone is bidding on the same thing.

David Hawk received an email stating there is going to be a hearing on Wednesday, May 4 before the IURC. The purpose is for the approval of the settlement agreement with Fort Wayne and interlocal agreement. We will have 7 days to adopt an ordinance, describing our exclusive water and sewer territories. We may need to hold a Special Meeting on May 11 to adopt the ordinance.
