Meeting of the Town Council
of Huntertown, Indiana
September 6, 2016 6:00 p.m.

A meeting of the Huntertown Town Council was held on
Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Attendees: Pat Freck, Mike Stamets, Mike
Aker, Brandon Seifert, and Clerk Treasurer Cathy Mittendorf. Also present:
Attorney David Hawk, Utility Foreman Gabe Brindle, Engineering Resources, Derek
Frederickson, and Resource Officer, Brandon Reichert. There were 6 guests and 1
Pat Freck called the meeting to order with the Pledge of
Brandon Seifert made
a motion to accept August 15, 2016 meeting minutes, Mike Stamets seconded. Pat
Freck-abstain, Mike Aker-abstain, Mike Stamets-yes, and Brandon Seifert-yes.
Mike Stamets made a motion to accept General claims in
the amount of $79,258.01, Mike Akers seconded. All in favor.
Seifert made a motion to accept change order # 2 on Gump Road fencing, Mike Aker
seconded. All in favor.
Schouten, Phend & Brown, presented change order # 2. The Russell property
fencing was not on the construction drawings when project was bid. They are now
waiting on County, Huntertown, and INDOT to sign off. We will initially pay
around $50,000 but will be reimbursed 80% by State, making it around $10,000
that we will owe. An open wire temporary fence is being used during
construction, with a chain link fence being the permanent fencing after
1) County is now enforcing curfew laws. Children under 15 years old must not be
outside after 11:00. 15 to 17 years old: Sunday thru Thursday is also 11:00.
Friday and Saturday kids should not be seen in public between 1:00 - 5:00 a.m.
2) There have been some complaints on speeding on Gump Road. Brandon and other
officers have been patrolling the area. The speed limit remains at 45 MPH. INDOT
has not lowered the speed limit during construction. Please drive safely to
protect the construction workers.
Brandon Seifert would like to do a
spotlight on a Huntertown business for each council meeting. They could come and
tell community what they are all about.
Pat Freck reported that
Huntertown received a plaque from INDOT awarding a community matching grant.
1) Hydrant flushing will start the end of
September and will last around 6 weeks.
2) Gabe presented
council with an estimate from Brown Equipment Company for repairs and
maintenance of the street sweeper. Total estimate is $10,810.60. Council would
like a breakdown on what needs immediate attention, and then proceed from there.
1) Derek presented council with a map
showing corporate boundary of Town along with water and sewer territories.
2) NIRCC has issued a call for projects of roads and trails for funding. They
would like to know what the Town might want to do within the next month or so.
They will be happy to come to a council meeting to answer questions. Available
roads might be: Carroll road from Bethel to fairgrounds, Carroll Road from S.R.
3 to Pathway Church. Trails: Lakes of Carroll Creek to Towne Park. Mike Aker and
Brandon Seifert will form an exploratory committee to discuss what might be the
best candidates for this grant.
3) WWTP is on schedule with a
nice controlled work site.
Smith, 2729 Hunter Road
He is concerned with someone shooting
into a creek by his home.
Mike Aker made a motion to adjourn, Mike
Stamets seconded. All in favor.
