A meeting of the Huntertown Town Council was held On
Monday, October 17, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. Attendees: Pat Freck, Gary Grant, Mike
Stamets, Brandon Seifert, and Clerk Treasurer Cathy Mittendorf. Also present:
Attorney David Hawk, Tim Schubert, utility worker, Derek Frederickson from
Engineering Resources, and Resource Officer Brandon Reichert. There were 8
guests and 1 reporter.
Pat Freck called the meeting to order with the
Pledge of Allegiance.
Seifert made a motion to accept October 3, 2016 meeting minutes, Gary Grant
seconded. All in favor.
Gary Grant made a motion to accept October 17,
2016 General Claims in the amount of $91,548.13, Mike Stamets seconded. All in
Gary Grant made a motion to approve 2017 Fire Territory Budget,
Mike Stamets seconded. All in favor.
Gary Grant made a motion to approve
Capital expenses of $584,000 for the purchase of a new engine rescue, Mike
Stamets seconded. All in favor.
Brandon Seifert made a motion to consider
Ordinance No. 16-012, an ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 09-005 regarding
weeds, noxious plants and other rank vegetation of the Town of Huntertown,
Indiana. Gary Grant seconded. All in favor.
Gary Grant made a motion to
adopt Ordinance No. 16-012, Brandon Seifert seconded. All in favor.
Brandon Seifert made a motion to introduce Ordinance No. 16-011, for the 2017
budget, Gary Grant seconded. All in favor.
Gary Grant made a motion to
consider Ordinance No. 16-011, Brandon Seifert seconded. All in favor.
Gary Grant made a motion to adopt Ordinance No.16-011, Mike Stamets seconded.
All in favor.
Gary Grant made a motion to approve Engineering Resources
requested increase of $15,000, to continue on-call services for the remainder of
2016, Mike Stamets seconded. All in favor.
James McIntosh, Perry Township Trustee
Council was presented
with a general territory budget and also a special Fire protection territory
equipment replacement. He is working on a 5, 10, 20 year plan to contain costs
and still maintain fire protection. There is a rescue truck and an engine pumper
truck that he would like replace to purchase a new truck. This new piece of
equipment pumps water, carries hoses, ladders, and will carry medications at a
cost of $584,000.
The Tall grass and weed ordinance16-012, was considered
and adopted by council.
Pat Freck presented council with the 2017 budget.
Budget was introduced, considered, and adopted.
Joseph DePrisco, AdapTek Techologies
Mr. DePrisco started ATI, Advanced Technology, Inc. as a one person shop owner.
He travels to facilities and makes them more competitive. Machines are made that
make things work, such as fuel injectors, medical equipment, and diabetic test
kits. In 1994, API Alliance was started. Customers requested that since they did
such a good job on the assembly line, could they also develop product?
1998, Automated Laser was formed. This company works with medical facilities.
Later, Northern Apex was created. This is an automated tracking company.
There was a public hearing for the Land Use Ordinance last week. The planning
commission then closed the hearing, and will make recommendations to the
council. Some language in the current ordinance will be gone and placed into the
standard Manual. A draft will be presented to council and USB at the first
meeting in November.
2. Derek presented a request to increase
their professional on call services agreement in the amount of $15,000.
1) Bids for the trash collection contract will be
opened at next Council meeting.
2) Pat Freck asked if we had
replied back to Stella's Alterations lawyer.
