Meeting of the Town Council
of Huntertown, Indiana
February 21, 2017 6:00 p.m.
Huntertown Town Hall
A meeting of the Huntertown Town Council was held on
Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. In attendance were: Council President
Mike Aker and council members Brandon Seifert and Mike Stamets. Also present
were: Clerk-Treasurer Ryan Schwab, Superintendent of Utilities Don Papai,
Huntertown Resource Officer Brandon Reichert, Derek Frederickson of Engineering
Resources and Mike Hawk of Hawk Haynie Kammeyer & Smith. Also in attendance were
two (2) guests and one (1) reporter. Absent: Council members Patricia Freck and
Mike Aker called the meeting to order with the Pledge of
Mike Stamets made a
motion to approve the minutes from the February 6 meeting. Brandon Seifert
seconded. The motion passed 2-0-1 (Seifert-Yes; Stamets-Yes, Aker-abstain).
Mike Stamets made a motion to accept the general claims dated Febraury 21,
2017. Brandon Seifert seconded. The motion passed, 3-0.
Mike Stamets reported that Stacey Gorsuch would soon be
providing the town with a preliminary copy of updates related to the town’s
Title VI program. No action was taken
Huntertown Resource Officer Brandon Reichert had no report. Brandon Seifert
asked Reichert about a local restaurant, Pepperchini’s, going out of business
adding that a co-worker of his bought the building space. Reichert said that he
would stop by, introduce himself and welcome the new business owner to town.
Clerk-treasurer Ryan Schwab reported that he was contacted by REACH Alert in
regards to providing a text/email/phone alert system for the town. Schwab asked
council if they were interested in the system to let him know or he would
respond to the company that the town is not interested. No action was taken.
Superintendent of Utilities Don Papai reported that he attended a meeting
about the Carroll Road reconstruction project. He noted that DLZ will be
handling the inspection for the project. Papai also reported that he will be
attending a meeting on the Gump Road utility relocation project on Feb. 22.
Council President Mike Aker thanked Papai for encasing and hanging a
bicentennial flag in the Town Hall Meeting room.
Derek Frederickson of
Engineering Resources had no report.
Mike Hawk of Hawk Haynie Kammeyer &
Smith had no report.
Bob Lash, a
resident at 16534 Marble Ridge, reported to the council that a recent stop sign
that was added to the intersection of Obsidian Lane and Marble Ridge needed to
be removed because no one was stopping at it. Resource officer Brandon Reichert
said he has been patrolling the area and that reasonable stops are being made
while he in patrol. Reichert said he will continue to monitor the area, but
noted that he has numerous other subdivisions to patrol with similar problems.
Mike Stamets made a motion to adjourn. Brandon Seifert seconded. All in
Next Council meeting of the Huntertown Town Council is Monday,
March 6, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
