A meeting of the Huntertown Utility Service Board was held at the Town hall on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Board Members present: Louie Zimmer, John Widmann, and Clerk Treasurer Cathy Mittendorf. Others present: Attorney David Hawk, Superintendent Don Papai, William Boyle from DLZ, and Derek Frederickson from Engineering Resources. There were 22 visitors and 1 Reporter.

Louie Zimmer called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Louie Zimmer made a motion to accept April 6, 2015 Minutes. John Widmann seconded. Motion carried.

Louie Zimmer made a motion to accept April 20, 2015 and May 4, 2015, Water and Sewer claims. John Widmann seconded. Motion carried.

REPORTS

A document was presented for Transfer of Ownership and Operation of the generator given to a Huntertown Utilities, to the Allen County Commissioners for back-up power for the Allen County Health Department Storage Building at Irene Byron complex.

Don Papai, Utility Superintendent reported he has 2 quotes for well # 5 abandonment at Byron Center.  Louie Zimmer made a motion to accept lowest bid of $3175 to Ortman. John Widmann seconded. Motion carried.

Bill Boyle, DLZ, presented change order # 2 from Ottenweller Contracting, LLC. change order # 2 in the amount is $24,308.58. DLZ will be reimbursing the Town for $5787.82 of these changes.  Louie Zimmer made a motion to accept change order # 2, John Widmann seconded. Motion carried.

Bill Boyle presented pay request # 16 for Water Treatment Plant Improvements in the amount of $76,380.00 payable to Ottenweller Contracting, LLC. Louis Zimmer made a motion to accept pay application # 16. John Widmann seconded. Motion carried.

Derek Frederickson, Engineering Resources, presented a request for a Water and Sewer service for Talon's Reach, section ll, and Quail Creek, section lV. The Talon's Reach lift station is capable of handling the remaining 215 homes. Louie Zimmer made a motion to accept the next section of Talon's Reach into collection system, pending approval of Utility Superintend Don Papai. John Widmann seconded. Motion carried,

Derek Frederickson also presented pay application # 8 for Equailization Basin in the amount of $106,797.60, holding back $18,000.00 for liquidated damages. Louie Zimmer made a motion to approve, John Widmann seconded. Motion carried.

The SRF has approved the preliminary engineering report.

FLOOR COMMENTS

Ken Neumeister, Allen County Regional Sewer District, again approached the USB asking we amend an ordinance for septic relief in 2 project area's. After discussion, this must be put on hold for 2 - 3 weeks waiting on ruling from IURC.

Steve Harris, resident and association President, and Trent Garner, Vice President of Shearwater. They would like to raise awareness and possibility of fencing around the lift station at Talon's Reach. Residents were verbally told that Westport Homes would install the fencing.

Louie Zimmer made a motion to adjourn. John Widmann seconded. Motion carried.
