Meeting of the Huntertown Utility Service Board
of Huntertown, Indiana
May 2, 2016 – 5:00 pm

A meeting of the Huntertown Utility Service Board was held on Monday, May
2, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Attendees: Louis Zimmer, John Widmann, and Clerk
Treasurer Cathy Mittendorf. Also present: Attorney David Hawk,
Superintendent Don Papai, and Derek Frederickson from Engineering Resources.
There were 6 guests and 1 reporter.
Louis Zimmer called the meeting
to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Louis Zimmer made a motion to accept April 4, 2016 Minutes, John Widmann
seconded. All in favor.
Louis Zimmer made a motion to accept April
18, and May 2, 2016 water and sewer claims, John Widmann seconded. All in
Louis Zimmer made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 16-010,
John Widmann seconded. Resolution to the Huntertown Town Council
Recommending Amendment of Connection Fees for old Lima Road Sanitary Sewer
Extension. All in favor.
Louis Zimmer made a motion to pay M.C.
Wheeler $5,810.00 to cap 3 wells, John Widmann seconded. All in favor.
Louis Zimmer made a motion for pay application # 1 to Geiger Excavating
in the amount of $77,085.00, John Widmann seconded. All in favor.
David Hawk presented USB Resolution No.
16-010. This revises the connection fee for the Old Lima Road Sewer
extension to $5500 per connection and requires the applicant to pay the area
connection fee, and the prevailing tap fees.
1) Water Towers were cleaned and inspected.
All went well.
2) Don is working on a water audit which is
due May 27. A quick overview:
February 10 to March 10: 9.05 % loss
March 10 to April 11: 11.1% loss
The second reading is higher due to a water leak.
3) Don had
received 2 quotes to properly seal up the old wells at the Gump Road Water
Plant. M.C. Wheeler & Sons will be doing the work for $5,810.00.
1) The WWTP construction is in progress.
The construction staging lot is in.
2) The Effuent force
main is completed. Derek requested a signed Notice to Proceed.
3) Pay Application # 1 from Geiger Excavating in the amount $77,085 has been
submitted. This is for the outfall structure that has been completed.
4). The Town Council approved a resolution giving the USB authority to waive
Fort Wayne's area connection fees. Derek has 6 customers who are requesting
waivers as they are ready to make connections. The USB signed approval for
David Hawk received an email that the IURC may
consider our settlement agreement with Fort Wayne.
