A meeting of the Utility Service Board was held on Monday, August 1 , 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Attendees: Louis Zimmer, John Widmann, Chris Miller, and Clerk Treasurer Cathy Mittendorf. Also present: Attorney Carrie Gutman, Superintendent Don Papai, Bill Boyle from DLZ, and Derek Frederickson from Engineering Resources.

Louis Zimmer called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance.

USB ACTIONS

John Widmann made a motion to election Louis Zimmer as the new USB President, Chris Miller seconded. All in favor.

Louis Zimmer made a motion to approve July 5, 2016 meeting minutes, John Widmann seconded. Louis Zimmer-yes, John Widmann-yes, Chris Miller-abstain. Motion carried.

Louis Zimmer made a motion to approve July 18 and August 1, 2016 water and sewer claims, John Widmann seconded. All in favor.

John Widmann made a motion to approve purchase of a vortex pump for $7,475, Chris Miller seconded. All in favor.

Louis Zimmer made a motion to accept pay application # 3 to Fetters Construction in the amount of $457,303.50, Chris Miller seconded. All in favor.

Louis Zimmer made a motion to approve pay application # 3 to Beer and Slabaugh, Inc. In the amount of $7,120.35, Chris Miller seconded. All in favor.

Louie Zimmer introduced Chris Miller, a new USB member, who is replacing Andrew Conner.

John Widmann made a motion to elect Louie Zimmer as the new USB President, replacing Andrew Conner.

REPORTS

Clerk Treasurer would like to thank and recognize Betty Lavachek. She went to over 50 businesses in Huntertown asking for donations for new holiday decorations to adorn our utility poles. So far, we have received $1,690.

Don Papai
   Don sees the necessity of purchasing a Infinity Vortex pump in the amount of $7,475.00. There are a total of 14 lift stations, each having 2 pumps. As time goes by, all stations will need a replacement for a backup.

Derek Frederickson
   1) Pay application was presented from Fetters Construction, Inc. in the amount of $457,303.50. This is for the WWTP, phase 2A. Derek reported that progress is going well.
   2) Louie questioned Derek as to when the 1 1/2 employees needed to be hired? Derek suggested about 1 month before the WWTP started operating. If someone is hired outside the Town, discussion is needed.

Bill Boyle
   1) At the July meeting, Bill reported that work for Gump Road was not completed. Don Papai confirmed all work has now been completed. Beer & Slabaugh are requesting final payment and release of retainage in the amount of $7,120.35.
   2) A new meter was installed in existed well # 4. There are no reservations now in using well # 4.


PUBLIC COMMENTS

John Widmann, Representing Heritage Days
   Festival desperately needs bartenders for the upcoming Heritage Days.
